Charlotte, NC (November 13, 2018) – Last evening around 6 p.m., a Pineville police officer was struck by a vehicle.

Charlotte, NC (November 13, 2018) – Last evening around 6 p.m., a Pineville police officer was struck by a vehicle when he was directing traffic at the Lancaster Highway. The officer was identified as Officer S. Stewart, who had been wearing a bright orange high-visibility uniform at the time of the incident.

Police say that the officer’s vehicle, a marked patrol car, was present off to the side of the road with its blue lights on. However, police also say that visibility might have been a bit low because it was raining at the time. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

The driver who struck the officer stayed at the scene of the accident to cooperate with police. He was not charged for the accident.

At this time, police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
