Adairsville, GA (November 10, 2018) – This past week, one man was seriously injured in a train accident when the unexpected took place before his eyes.
Austin Stroud was involved in the accident when he was standing by the tracks waiting for the train to pass, when suddenly the ground around him gave way. This caused him to fall toward the train.
A deputy was called to the scene to investigate around 4:20 p.m. on the day in question in the area of Jarrett Loop near the Hall Station Road. He found Austin lying in the intersection when he arrived.
A witness asked Stroud if he needed help because he noticed that the young man’s leg was almost severed. When Austin lost his footing, he said he rolled onto his back and his left foot went into the air. In doing so, the train struck it. He had to have his leg amputated just below the left knee due to the extensive damage.
The conductor of the train told the deputy that he didn’t see anybody when he was passing through.
