Alto, GA (December 5, 2018) – In Alto, a man was arrested for driving under the influence and causing a serious pedestrian crash. The person was left with serious injuries.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday on Georgia 75 near Hamby Street. 41-year-old Christopher Allen Hatter was traveling northbound on the highway when he traveled across the road and struck 45-year-old James Forrest Stephens.

A witness stopped at the scene of the accident to give aid to the person who was struck. Hatter continued driving and barely stopped to take a look at the victim; meanwhile, the witness was forgotten on the side of the road with serious injuries.

Hatter received charges of failing to maintain his lane, DUI, leaving the scene of the accident, and more. Police continue to investigate at this time.
