Augusta, GA – One Person Died After Being Struck in Pedestrian Accident

Augusta, GA (December 15, 2018) – In Richmond County, one person died in a pedestrian accident after they were struck.

Augusta, GA (December 15, 2018) – In Richmond County, one person died in a pedestrian accident after they were struck by a vehicle on the Mike Padgett Highway yesterday.

A homeless woman, identified as 39-year-old April Sims died when she was struck by a vehicle. The coroner came to the scene of the accident and said that she died due to blunt force trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:25 a.m.

Police say that Sims was the only person affected by this accident. Four lanes were blocked on the Mike Padgett Highway in the area of Wylie Drive. The roads were closed for several hours after the accident.

At this time, the accident is still under investigation by authorities.
