Barrow County, GA (October 04, 2018) – At 7:00 on Sunday evening Barrow County Emergency Services received a call about a woodland fire near the 1200 block of Bethlehem Road and responded to the call.

One of the first responders on the engine noticed something was amiss. His experience as a firefighter taught him that there was way too much smoke in the air for a woods fire and he suspected that it might actually be a house fire. Other trucks were quickly dispatched to the scene when the Lieutenant’s guess turned out to be correct. When the firefighters arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames and the home was completely destroyed.

One firefighter was treated at the scene and one of the occupants of the home was hospitalized with fire-related injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
