Bartow County, GA (December 6, 2018) – A Georgia woman was charged with vehicular homicide following a deadly crash that took place in Bartow County on Interstate 75.

The accident happened when 73-year-old Delores Nowell of Georgia was driving a 2013 Chevy Impala northbound. Nowell stopped her vehicle in the right lane and police said that she was under the influence of alcohol. A tractor-trailer came upon Nowell’s vehicle and swerved to avoid it.

This caused the tractor-trailer to collide with the side of the Chevy, where it then struck a parked Honda in the emergency lane of the highway.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 49-year-old Robert Whitman, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The Honda’s passenger, 56-year-old Robbie Whitman, died at the scene of the accident.

Nowell has since been arrested for vehicular homicide, DUI, and more.
