Burlington, NC (November 8, 2018) – A string of moped accidents have been happening in the Burlington area recently, which have caused serious injuries and fatalities to those involved.
In a serious moped accident that took place in Burlington on Sunday night, November 4, one person was left in critical condition and taken to the hospital. The accident took place around 10:00 p.m. at night.
Police were called to the scene of the moped accident on West Front Street in Burlington and Briar Cliff Road.
Police say that the moped driver has since been identified as 34-year-old Steven Michael Freshwater. He went through the light at the intersection, which is when he was struck by a 2015 Ford Fusion. The driver stayed at the scene but the crash remains under investigation while police look into the accident to determine how it took place.
