Camden, NC (December 11, 2018) – Police say that two motorists were hospitalized immediately following a three-vehicle crash that happened in Camden. Luckily, both motorists are expected to survive, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
At the time, a 16-year-old had been driving too fast for conditions. His vehicle hydroplaned and struck two other vehicles near Country Club Road around 6:30 p.m. At first, his pickup truck sideswiped a Volkswagen station wagon and then struck a sedan head-on. Police say that, at the time of the accident, it was dark and the rain was coming down heavy.
The driver of the Volkswagen was identified as 38-year-old Alexander Underhill and the driver of the Toyota was identified as 45-year-old Tien Thai. The teen’s name has not been released.
Both the teen and Thai were taken to the hospital but the teen was then transferred to another hospital for treatment. He had been ejected from his vehicle because he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. He was semi-conscious at the scene when he was taken to the hospital.
Police continue their investigation into the incident at this time.
We would like to take a moment to extend our sympathies to all parties involved in this accident and hope that they will find a quick and peaceful recovery when they need it the most.
