Canton, GA (December 21, 2018) – Police say that a 60-year-old man died and four people were hospitalized with injuries following a two-vehicle crash, one of which was a child.
On Thursday afternoon, the two-vehicle accident took place on the Cumming Highway. Deputies were dispatched to the scene where they found that a pickup truck had been carrying four people and stopped to make a left turn. That’s when it was suddenly rear-ended by another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, a van, was identified as 60-year-old Robert Norton. He was immediately transported to the Northside Hospital where he died of his serious injuries. He had no other passengers with him.
The driver of the pickup truck, 26-year-old Jonathan Franklin, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Three other passengers, including a 5-year-old boy, were all transported to the hospital with a variety of injuries as well, all of which were non-life-threatening in nature.
The accident remains under investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
