Canton, GA (December 3, 2018) – At this time, a Creekview High School student is still hospitalized following an accident.

Canton, GA (December 3, 2018) – At this time, a Creekview High School student is still hospitalized following an accident that led to the death of a classmate and injuries to two other students.

17-year-old Chase Burr was injured in the accident and was immediately put in the intensive care unit due to the severity of his injuries. He was moved to a regular room at an area hospital after the past few days due to the progress that he has been making.

The classmate who lost their life was identified as 17-year-old Stevie Smith. The crash took place when a red 2003 Infiniti was involved in an accident and went off the side of the road, crashing into a tree. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 17-year-old Yann Engamba, and another 15-year-old passenger suffered injuries as well.

Engamba was charged with vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, and more.

Police continue to investigate the accident to determine exactly what happened.
