Cartersville, GA (December 24, 2018) – In Cartersville, a man was hospitalized following a severe train accident. The accident took place this week in Bartow County.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident to find that the man had been struck by the train at the end of Fairview Drive off of Cassville Road. A deputy was dispatched to the scene of the accident around 3:04 p.m. and met with EMS crews.
The victim was unconscious but breathing when EMS found him at the scene. They found him bleeding from his eyes and head when they removed him from the tracks.
Witnesses at the scene said that the man had been walking by the tracks when the train came through, unable to stop at the time. The victim had been found lying parallel to the rails.
The victim’s condition is not known at this time but police continue to investigate.
