Cartersville, GA (December 21, 2018) – In Cartersville, the family of a man who was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident this week have since identified him as 42-year-old Antonio Hutcherson.
The accident took place when Hutcherson was walking along US 41 when he was suddenly struck by a Kia Sorento. The accident happened just south of Postelle Street. The Georgia State Patrol said that the driver of the Kia had been traveling southbound on the highway in the right lane. He has been attempting to negotiate the curve when he suddenly struck the pedestrian.
The driver of the vehicle has since been identified as Reginald Karl Bailey. Bailey told troopers that he didn’t see Hutcherson, who appeared to have been walking near the solid line on the side of the road. He wasn’t able to avoid the victim.
Family and friends spoke with police and said that Hutcherson had just finished his shift at work and was walking home when the vehicle struck him. No charges have been filed in regards to the accident.
Police continue their investigation into the matter at this time.
