Charleston, SC (November 9, 2018) – Charleston Police say that one person was identified in a fatal bicycle accident case when he was struck by a motor vehicle driver. The driver was since identified as 59-year-old Thomas Garrett.
The accident took place on November 5, when we reported that the victim was struck at Hagood Avenue. The accident took place around 9:44 p.m. in downtown Charleston. The driver of the sedan that struck Garrett was identified as Da’Quan Eady, who was traveling southbound at the time on US-17 when he struck Garrett.
Garrett received fatal injuries due to the accident. Eady was arrested for felony driving under the influence and reckless homicide. The southbound part of the road was closed down for quite some time while police investigated.
