Cherokee County, SC (October 20, 2018) – The 54-year-old man killed on Friday night in Cherokee County has been identified.

Cherokee County, SC (October 20, 2018) – The 54-year-old man killed on Friday night in Cherokee County has been identified as Maurice Eugene Clements according to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office.

Clements was walking with a friend on the frontage road of I-85 when he was struck by a van at about 7:20 PM. Clemens and his friend were headed back to the hotel at which they stayed from a nightly trip to a nearby convenience store. The driver of the 1997 Dodge van was a 54-year-old woman who was headed east on Hampshire Drive near Hollywood Drive when she struck Clemens.

Clemens was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
