Cobb County, GA (December 17, 2018) – In Cobb County, a fatal accident took place on Interstate 75 that led to the fatality of one woman and injuries to another. The woman who lost her life in the accident has now been identified as 52-year-old Melissa Gail Cole.
The accident took place near South Marietta Parkway around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday and involved an SUV towing a boat.
At the time, Cole had been driving her Mazda 3 south on the interstate when she suddenly lost control for reasons that are not yet known. Her vehicle spun out of control, putting it into the path of a Chevy Suburban towing a recreational boat. The driver was unable to avoid hitting the Mazda.
When the two collided, serious damages resulted. Cole had a passenger in the front seat, identified as a 31-year-old man from Roswell. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains there at this time.
The Chevy’s driver and his family were headed to Florida and none of them were injured. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash at this time.
