Colquitt County, GA (October 25, 2018) – An elementary school child has lost their life in a fatal bus accident on Thursday, October 25. The driver who collided with the children has been taken into custody on a variety of charges.
The Georgia State Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident this morning, October 25. A driver, identified as 25-year-old Monica Cutts, ran a stop sign on the bus and hit the children as they attempted to cross the road. Cutts has been arrested on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, school bus violations, and serious injury caused to a child along with other charges.
The accident happened on Thigpen Trail around 6:45 a.m. No identities have yet been released.
A second child was so severely injured that they were airlifted to the hospital for treatment. Police continue to investigate at this time.
