Conover, NC (December 28, 2018) – Police have stated that a health issue might have contributed to a fatal accident on Interstate 40 that took the life of a pastor yesterday.
The accident happened yesterday in the afternoon when a Honda was involved in an accident and took the life of 59-year-old Scott Randolph Hammett Jr. Hammett struck a light pole and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to police.
Police say that Hammett was the Senior Pastor at the Clemmons First Baptist Church since 2016. He had three children with his wife.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time, but police believe that a health condition might have contributed to the wreck.
