Conyers, GA (December 23, 2018) – In Conyers, a Virginia man was killed in a fatal car accident and his brother was jailed following a crash that involved a stolen vehicle.
The incident started around 4 a.m. yesterday when a plate reader on a police vehicle alerted the police to a stolen Toyota Corolla near a Walmart in the area of Dogwood Drive. Officers tried to box in the vehicle but the driver maneuvered out around them and headed toward Salem Road.
The 19-year-old driver then sped down the road going over 100 mph. The driver then turned off his lights as officers tried to catch him. However, they ended their pursuit when they determined that conditions were not safe enough to continue.
The driver then lost control while taking a curve in the road and was involved in a serious crash. The driver was identified as Demetris Taylor. One person died in the accident. Taylor’s brother was identified as 23-year-old Lyndell Taylor.
As of now, charges are pending and police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
