Cordele, GA (December 6, 2018) – Cordele Police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident that took place.

Cordele, GA (December 6, 2018) – Cordele Police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident that took place yesterday, December 5, after a child tried to cross Highway 280.

The 11-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a severe head injury after trying to cross the street and being struck by a car. The accident happened in the 1500 block of the roadway in front of a Wendy’s.

Police say that the 11-year-old was attempting to cross the street with a 13-year-old when a Nissan Maxima struck the child. Luckily, the 13-year-old was not injured.

The injured child was immediately transported to the Crisp Regional Hospital and the driver of the Nissan stayed at the scene to speak with police. At this time, they continue their investigation.
