Cornelius, NC (November 16, 2018) – At least one person was injured in a five-car accident in Cornelius and maybe even more than one person was injured, but it has not yet been confirmed.

The accident was so severe that it closed down all northbound lanes of Interstate 77 this afternoon, November 16 between exits 28 and 30. One vehicle was turned completely sideways and others were pushed up against the barrier with a variety of damages. Emergency responders were at the scene of the accident to help those who were involved.

One person had to be extricated from their vehicle, which was the one with the most damages. Everybody involved is expected to recover.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
