Covington, GA (November 21, 2018) – Police say that a vehicle lost control on Kirkland Road and crashed into a home on Monday afternoon, November 19, killing a 12-year-old boy and causing injuries to another.

At the time, the 12-year-old boy, who was identified as Braydon Stevenson, was in the garage with his friend searching for a hamster that was on the loose. His friend was identified as Lucas McWilliams. Stevenson’s grandmother heard a crash and observed a vehicle coming into her living room from the garage.

The driver, Karlrio Kelsey, had been driving east on Kirkland Road when Kelsey lost control of the vehicle and crossed the double yellow line. The vehicle entered into the front yard of the home and struck the garage door and house. Stevenson was pinned under the vehicle when it came crashing through.

Stevenson was pronounced deceased at the hospital. At this time, charges are pending against the driver. Police continue to investigate.
