The accident happened around the area of the Palmetto and Tyrone exit around 12 p.m. Police say that three people were injured and immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

A Life Flight helicopter landed on the highway to take injured parties to the hospital. Some of the injuries reported were quite severe.

Within hours, the crash was cleared but there were lasting delays in the area. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident at this time.
