Dekalb County, GA (October 17, 2018) – Police say that a college freshman was home to visit her family for the weekend and she was killed in a DUI accident. The accident took place in Dekalb County.

Police have confirmed that 18-year-old Kennedy Segars was stopped at a light near her parent’s home when the accident took place on Sunday night, October 14. A driver suddenly rear-ended her going over 70 mph.

Segars’ parents say that she was a freshman at the Alabama State University and was aspiring to become an attorney. The other driver was quickly identified as 57-year-old Reginald Stubbs, who survived the accident. Segars, on the other hand, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Witnesses said that the accident was a horrific scene and it involved three other cars. A witness at the scene rushed to pull Segars from her vehicle while smoke was coming out. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital but she had severe brain damage.

Stubbs is now due in court for a variety of charges like vehicular homicide, DUI, and more.
