Dekalb County, GA (August 14, 2018) – A 7-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing a busy street on Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m.
The incident took place around North Decatur Road and Rockbridge Road. The child was wearing a backpack and attempting to cross four lanes of traffic when he was struck by a car. The boy was alone at the time. Police confirm the child has died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. He was a student at Dunaire Elementary.
Losing a child is one of the most difficult things any parent could go through. Our deepest condolences go out to the family as they grieve this heartbreaking incident. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities. Police have not stated if the driver will face any charges.
