Dorchester County, SC (October 19, 2018) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol has been working to identify a man who lost his life yesterday morning, October 18, in a Highway 17 accident.

The driver has since been identified as 39-year-old Robert Paul Mauch of Summerville, SC. Police say that Mauch was immediately killed when he was involved in an accident and his car landed in a small body of water, partially submerged. The accident happened on hunting land in the area.

The SC Highway Patrol and Dorchester County Coroner’s Office immediately responded to the accident to work on their investigation. Right now, Mauch’s body is at the Medical University for an autopsy.

The accident took place in the area of Cannan Road and is still under investigation at this time.
