Drexel, NC (November 3, 2018) – Police say that one person was charged and another was seriously injured after being pinned between two cars in a pedestrian crash. The accident took place on Monday night, October 29.
Police have confirmed that 85-year-old Jamie Church English was charged with failure to yield, which caused serious bodily injury to one person. The woman who was injured was identified as 60-year-old Yvonne Lane Yelton. She was struck by English as she was trying to walk from her vehicle to the post office on Church Street. Yelton became pinned between her own vehicle and English’s car.
Yelton’s sister came to the scene following the accident. She said that Yelton was taken to the hospital with broken legs and other injuries.
English tried to tell police that her brakes failed. However, officers at the scene tested them and they seemed operational.
