Durham, NC (December 4, 2018) – On Sunday night, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred at an intersection in Durham that took the life of a young man.
Police say the accident took place around 6:30 pm at the intersection of Holloway Street and South Woodcrest Street in the city of Durham. At the time of the crash, 22-year-old German Barahona was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle and was headed east on Holloway Street at a high rate of speed. That’s when he collided with a westbound Hyundai Sonata.
The driver of the Sonata was attempting to turn left onto Woodcrest Street when Barahona and his motorcycle struck the right front of the Sonata. Barahona was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently suffered severe trauma as a result of the collision. Sadly, Barahona’s injuries proved to be fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The other driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No charges have been filed and police continue to investigate the accident.
