Fuquay-Varina, NC (October 26, 2018) – In Fuquay-Varina, a Wake County School bus was involved in an accident this morning, October 26, while multiple children were on the bus.

At the time, the bus driver was taking elementary students to their destination. It happened at the intersection of Broad Steet and Old Powell Road. Twenty elementary school children from Herbert Aikens Elementary were on the bus being taken to school at the time. Some received injuries but they are all expected to be recover.

Police say that a car rear-ended the bus when the driver of the vehicle was reaching down to pick up a cell phone that they dropped.

The children were moved onto another bus to return to school. Police are still investigating at this time.
