Gates County, NC (November 20, 2018) – In Gates County, twelve people were hospitalized in a van accident that took.

Gates County, NC (November 20, 2018) – In Gates County, twelve people were hospitalized in a van accident that took place this week. The individuals were inmates being transported. One of the inmates suffered severe injuries.

The van was identified as one that is owned by U.S. Corrections, LLC, which is a private company known for transporting inmates. The woman who had been driving the van fell asleep at the wheel and ran off Highway 13. She woke up and realized that she and the inmates were in a ditch. The van flipped over on the side of the highway.

The driver and another correctional officer on the vehicle at the time only sustained minor injuries, but two females and eight male inmates were transported to the hospital.

The driver was charged with reckless driving.
