Georgetown, SC (November 27, 2018) – On Sunday, the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene of a fatal accident where they found that a child had lost their life. The accident took place on Old Pee Dee Road in Georgetown.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the accident took place around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday when a Chevrolet ran off the road following an accident, causing it to overturn. The child, who was identified as a 9-year-old female, was a passenger and was not wearing a seatbelt. She died as a result of her injuries at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to recover. The little girl was identified as 9-year-old Camari Chestnut. She attended an elementary school in the area.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing at this time.
