Greenville, SC (December 8, 2018) – This morning, December 8, troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol were called to a fatal pedestrian accident on Anderson Road. One person was killed in the accident and now police have identified the party.

Troopers said that, around 6:06 a.m., the driver of a motor vehicle had been driving south on Anderson Road when they lost control due to low visibility and rain. This caused them to strike a woman who had been sitting in the middle of the road for reasons that were not known at this time.

The female has since been identified by police as 16-year-old Shakira Hampton. The driver was not hurt in the accident but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim had allegedly been causing traffic to move around her on the roadway. Police continue to investigate these circumstances.
