Greenwood County, SC (December 8, 2018) – One person lost their life in a serious pedestrian accident when the individual walked out in front of a car last night, December 7. The accident took place on the US-25 Bypass, according to responding police
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that the accident took place at 6:20 p.m. near Willbanks Circle, which is outside Greenwood city limits. A 2007 Pontiac had been traveling north at the time while a pedestrian was attempting to walk east across the road. The pedestrian walked in front of the Pontiac by accident, which caused them to be struck immediately.
The pedestrian has since been identified as Gregory Carl Norman, who tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident. The coroner said that the cause of death was blunt force trauma caused by an accident.
The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured in the accident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash at this time.
