Horry County, SC (December 12, 2018) – On Saturday night, one person was killed following a fatal two-vehicle accident along SC-9. The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded.
The Horry County coroner was called to the scene of the accident and identified the man as 44-year-old James Price Stevens III. He lost his life around 8:20 p.m. He had been driving a GMC northbound when he attempted making a left turn onto SC-348 and struck a GMC SUV.
The SUV immediately caught fire and two people inside were able to escape. However, they received a variety of injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Stevens had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time and received severe, life-threatening injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, no charges will be filed. They continue their investigation into the matter at this time.
