Johnston County, NC (November 19, 2018) – One person lost their life today, November 19, in a Johnston County pedestrian accident involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40.

The crash took place today around 10:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 323. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated.

A 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer was heading east at the time when it suddenly struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian had been standing on the shoulder of the road and stepped directly into the path of the truck. They died at the scene of the accident.

At this time, police continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to this accident.
