Kannapolis, NC (November 15, 2018) – On Wednesday morning, November 14, one person was struck and killed in a fatal train accident while they were walking with a friend.

Police arrived at the scene of the accident around 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Ridge Avenue and D Street. The victim’s friend said that the two were walking on the tracks at the time when they noticed that the train was quickly approaching behind them. The victim wasn’t able to jump off of the tracks in time.

The two had been walking toward a nearby store at the time. The friend was not injured in the accident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash at this time.
