Kings Mountain, NC (December 31, 2018) – In North Carolina, state troopers were called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on Interstate 85 last night, December 30.
Police say that the accident took place around 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Exit 2. The victim has since been identified as Tai Van Lee, who might have been crossing the road at the time.
Investigators say that witnesses said Van Lee, of Charlotte, had been in the roadway and it was dark outside when he was struck by the vehicle and lost his life at the scene. The driver was not yet charged for the incident.
That part of the interstate was closed down for more than an hour.
Police continue their investigation into the matter at this time.
