Lake Mitchell, GA – Pilot Identified Following Fatal Helicopter Crash

Lake Mitchell, GA (November 19, 2018) – On Sunday afternoon, November 18, a fatal helicopter crash occurred in Lake Mitchell.

Lake Mitchell, GA (November 19, 2018) – On Sunday afternoon, November 18, a fatal helicopter crash occurred in Lake Mitchell in which two people lost their lives.  Today, one of the victims in that fatal helicopter crash was identified.

The second victim has not yet been identified. The helicopter pilot has been identified as retired Columbus Police Department officer, David Hall. Divers went out yesterday and were able to recover both bodies of the two people who lost their lives in this tragic accident. The helicopter wreckage was around 70 feet below the surface at the time of the diving expedition.

The helicopter had been part of a metro narcotics task force, which spanned all the way from Georgia to Alabama. At this time, the FAA is investigating to try to determine how the accident took place.

We would like to take a moment to extend our condolences to the loved ones of Officer David Hall and his passenger.  We hope that they are able to find comfort and peace during this most difficult time in their lives.  Our thoughts are with everyone involved.
