Lancaster, SC (December 13, 2018) – Yesterday, police reported that a Lancaster man lost his life following a fatal two-car accident that took place in Lancaster County.
51-year-old James Plyler died at the scene of the accident, according to the coroner. The accident took place on Riverside Road close to the area of Industrial Park Drive at 4:40 a.m. The road was blocked for several hours while police investigated the accident.
Police stated that both vehicles had been heading north when a 2003 BMW driven by 23-year-old Lancaster man tried passing a pickup truck driven by Plyler. This caused both of the vehicles to collide with one another.
Plyler died after the collision and police say that he had been wearing a seatbelt at the time. As of yesterday, no charges were filed, but the accident is still under investigation by the highway patrol.
We would like to take a moment to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of James Plyler, whose life was taken too soon in this serious accident. We want you to know that you are never alone during one of these difficult times.
