Lenoir County, NC (December 10, 2018) – Police have been unable to locate the driver of a tractor-trailer who was.

Lenoir County, NC (December 10, 2018) – Police have been unable to locate the driver of a tractor-trailer who was involved in a serious truck accident on Hwy 70 on December 9th.

The accident took place yesterday around the area of Highway 70. The truck driver who was involved in the accident crashed and went over the guardrail in the area, throwing his truck into the river. Since then, the truck has been pulled from the river but the driver has not been found.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that divers are going to come to the area with side sonar. Weather conditions in the area have been harsh, which means that they might be able to locate the driver for some time.

The bridge has been checked by crews to determine if it is safe to drive on. The truck was extremely damaged and crews will now look for the driver. They believe that it is likely that he is seriously injured or may have died as a result.  He may have been swept out of the truck and into the river.
