Lexington, SC (November 15, 2018) – Today, November 15, Augusta Road was closed down for quite some time for investigations after a fatal car accident that took one life. The incident happened early this morning around 7 a.m. on Augusta Road and US-1 at Morgan Drive, according to police.
The man who lost his life in the accident was identified as 22-year-old Rusty Wayne Shull Jr. At the time, Shull had been driving westbound on Augusta when a vehicle suddenly entered into the intersection and struck his vehicle. The force from the impact caused Shull’s vehicle to cross over into the other lanes of traffic, causing two other vehicles to collide with his.
Shull had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time and died at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospitals with injuries but are expected to recover.
At this time, police are unsure of exactly what caused the accident to spiral out of control and continue to investigate.
