Macon County, NC (October 24, 2018) – Police say that a two-vehicle crash took place on NC-106 in the Scaly.

Macon County, NC (October 24, 2018) – Police say that a two-vehicle crash took place on NC-106 in the Scaly Mountain community of Macon County that led to the death of one woman.

Police responded to the scene and found that 29-year-old Rene Glenda Waller died at the scene of the horrific accident that happened near the intersection of the highway and Buck Knob Road. Passerby called into police about the accident around 11:08 p.m. that night.

They found that Waller’s vehicle collided with a pickup truck, according to Highway Patrol. The driver of the pickup truck immediately fled the scene. The truck and the other vehicle struck head-on.

Police have since apprehended the suspect but they have not been identified. They continue to investigate the accident at this time.
