Macon, GA – One Person Loses Life in Multi-Vehicle Collision

Macon, GA (December 6, 2018) – The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is still working on their investigation of a multi-vehicle collision.

Macon, GA (December 6, 2018) – The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is still working on their investigation of a multi-vehicle collision that led to fatal results in one individual.

At the time of the accident, a semi-truck became disabled and stopped in the middle lane of Interstate 475N this morning, December 6. The driver got out of the truck and started working on it. A man in a passing Chevy, identified as 20-year-old Brandon Hankinson, got out of his vehicle after parking so that he could help the semi-truck driver.

At that time, a second semi-truck, being operated by 37-year-old Lawrence Gross, was in the middle lane and crashed into both vehicles off the side of the road. A Honda driven by 38-year-old Rikki Sharp then struck the trailer of the semi.

The original driver from the disabled truck died at the scene of the accident. Police have since identified him as 61-year-old George James.

Gross and Sharp were both seriously injured and taken to the hospital. At this time, they have both been listed in stable condition.

Police are still investigating the accident at this time.
