Marion, NC (November 27, 2018) – A woman lost her life in a tragic and fatal accident that happened on.

Marion, NC (November 27, 2018) – A woman lost her life in a tragic and fatal accident that happened on Highway 221 and 226 South in Marion on Saturday this past weekend. The Marion Police Department has since identified the woman as Elizabeth Gunter.

Four other people had been in the vehicle driven by Gunter, who have been identified as three juveniles and one adult. All of them were taken to the Mission Hospital to be treated for various injuries, but they are all expected to recover.

The driver of the tractor-trailer that collided with their vehicle was charged with one count of misdemeanor death by vehicle. The driver was found to be in possession of illegal amounts of prescription medications.

We would like to extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Elizabeth Gunter, whose life was taken too soon in this serious and life-changing accident. Our thoughts are with the surviving family members who are trying to come to terms with this tremendous loss.
