Matthews, NC (November 2, 2018) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in Matthews on Monday morning, October 29. The wreck happened around 7:30 a.m. on the 500 block of East John Street.
Police say the accident occurred when a vehicle was pulling out of a driveway and was suddenly struck by another vehicle going in the eastbound direction. The second vehicle then struck a third when it trailed onward.
The driver of the first vehicle who had been pulling out of the driveway was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The drivers in the other vehicles sustained a variety of injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have not stated whether or not charges are pending but they continue to investigate the accident at this time.
