McDowell County, NC – One Person Killed in Head-on Collision

McDowell County, NC (November 26, 2018) – A man from Morganton was killed in a head-on collision that took place.

McDowell County, NC (November 26, 2018) – A man from Morganton was killed in a head-on collision that took place on NC-226 over the weekend, and two others received injuries.

The man was identified as 47-year-old Kenneth Ray Walker, who was killed when he crossed the center line and struck a Honda vehicle around 2:28 p.m.

First responders were called to the area of NC-226 near the Rocky Pass Self Storage when they heard that there was a multi-vehicle collision with a confirmed fatality. At the time, a Buick and the Honda were traveling southbound when a Dodge crossed over the center lane and just missed the Buick. It struck the Honda head-on.

Walker died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Honda was identified as Robert Gerald Kontak, who had a passenger named Carol Lee Ferguson, were both injured and transported to the hospital. As of now, they are both listed in stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
