Monroe, GA (December 26, 2018) – In Monroe, police say that one person lost their life in a serious fatal car accident. The accident took place over the Christmas weekend.
Police say that the accident took place between two vehicles and only one person was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, where they lost their life, according to emergency responders. Police have not yet identified the party and are still working on their investigation of how the accident took place.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety said that this was the only crash that they worked in the entire Monroe area over the holiday week that involved a fatality. However, 22 people died across the state as of 6 a.m. this morning.
Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
