Every year across North Carolina, approximately 160 pedestrians will lose their lives. Pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable parties to losing their lives in accidents due to the fact that they are thousands of pounds lighter than motor vehicles, which could lead to catastrophic results in the event of an accident. Pedestrians represent about 15% of all traffic fatalities on the roads across North Carolina.
