New Bern, NC – Reckless Driving Charges Result After Bus Accident

New Bern, NC (October 27, 2018) – One man received charges of reckless driving and careless driving after a bus.

New Bern, NC (October 27, 2018) – One man received charges of reckless driving and careless driving after a bus accident involving a school bus in Craven County yesterday, October 26. The man who caused the accident was identified as 45-year-old Terry Drennen.

The collision happened on Old US 70 Kornegay Street in Dover. The vehicles involved were a log truck, a truck with a trailer, and a school bus.

Drennen was operating the log truck, 40-year-old Eric James was operating the truck with the trailer, and 54-year-old Perdita Hargett was operating the school bus. Drennen had been traveling east and James was stuck behind the bus, which was stopped to load a child. Drennen didn’t reduce his speed in enough time, running into the vehicles.

There were 27 students on the bus at the time of the accident.

Two people, who have not yet been identified by police, were transported to the hospital with injuries. They are expected to be okay.
