Newberry, SC (November 21, 2018) – A fatal pedestrian accident is still under investigation that took place when the individual was struck by a vehicle this week in Newberry. The accident is still under investigation by the coroner’s office, Newberry Police Department, and Highway Patrol, but they have since identified the name of the party involved.

The pedestrian has been identified as 68-year-old Yogeshbhai Patel. At the time of the accident, Patel had been struck by a moving vehicle on Wilson Road around 8 p.m. that evening. The pedestrian apparently stepped into traffic when he was struck.

Patel allegedly died of blunt force trauma. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
