Newton, NC (December 20, 2018) – One person lost their life following a fatal truck accident that took place between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle yesterday near Meadowbrok Drive.
A portion of the highway was closed down while police took a closer look at the scene. Debris was scattered all over the road. One witness saw the accident took place and said that it appeared as if the vehicle crossed over the center line and slammed into the truck. He said that when the two collided, there was a large boom.
The vehicle immediately caught fire and two employees in the commercial truck attempted to work on extinguishing the vehicle. One person lost their life but they have not yet been identified.
Police continue their investigation into the matter at this time.
